Why We Attend South Bay Bible Fellowship

There are a number of churches in our area. So we asked our members the question: "Why do you attend South Bay Bible Fellowship?" Below are some of the answers.

Amanda C

I attend SBBF because it is a family church. Everyone is supportive in all my needs. All the fellowship service events, like vacation Bible school, the annual soup supper, the church picnic, women’s Ministry meetings, etc. are most enjoyable and great fun. No one feels alone at any of these events. All are welcome here.

The reason I attend SBBF is to learn the Word of God from a Pastor who teaches directly from the Bible. Furthermore, our congregation is a gathering of warm and loving people. The friendships I have developed here are a gift from God. In our Sunday service and in our 7:00 am prayer group, we pray for the needs of people in our community as well as the congregation. We have a Youth Group with teenagers who want to learn about God and have fellowship together. SBBF truly feels like “home” to me.

The Bible tells us, “Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God” (Romans 10:17). So simply said, I attend SBBF because the Pastor presents sound Bible teaching and I also experience loving Christian fellowship with my church family. These things bring me closer to my God.

I always hear the Word of God preached every Sunday. Our pastor delivers sermons in a way which makes it easy for me to grasp what the Word is teaching me, even though sometimes the passages are difficult to grasp. I always leave the service feeling encouraged and built up.

I enjoy the sermon each week; that’s a big reason I come to SBBF each week. I get a different perspective on numerous parts of the Bible, many of which are familiar to me but take on a fresh understanding. I like learning about what was happening at the time of the Bible text which Pastor Tim is explaining.

I also enjoy the give and take at Bible Study on Tuesday evening, and I think if lots of other folks would attend the Bible Study a couple of times, they would be wanting to come every week. We have an open format, with questions and answers, and opinions, and prayer by the Pastor for whatever is utmost on our minds. It is a really productive evening, usually only one hour, never more than one hour and a quarter.

The main reason I attend SBBF is to listen to our Pastor. He speaks to me in such a way that I can learn what the Bible says. He teaches me how to walk in the Christian faith and how I ought to live my life everyday. I come away from church renewed, refreshed, and feel the peace of God deep in my soul. We all realize there are many challenges and life situations which will come our way. We need to be prepared for each of them for whatever season we are in. I have gained wisdom, knowledge and understanding through attending SBBF. We are a loving church family.

What I found at SBBF was grace and acceptance.

I live under God’s grace and do not need to work to be granted His love - and that is reflected in the church community. Pastor Tim stresses being saved by grace and being unable to earn our salvation, and that acceptance is also reflected in our fellowship.

And that is why I attend South Bay Bible Fellowship.

The B Family

As our family attends SBBF, we are learning about God’s Word and how applicable it is in our daily life. SBBF is a loving and caring community of believers reaching about to others as Jesus would. Our children say “We love VBS, our friends and our Sunday School teachers.”
